Biography

Dr. Kandis McCafferty graduated from the University of Nebraska at Omaha with a BA in Sociology in 2002 and from the University of Nebraska Medical Center with a BS in Nursing in 2007 and a PhD in 2014.  Dr. McCafferty has spent the majority of her nursing career working as a labor and delivery nurse and has served as a faculty member at Creighton University since 2013.  While at Creighton, Dr. McCafferty has focused her research endeavors on teaching/learning strategies, the use of simualtion within academic and clinical arenas as well as understanding the teaching/learning needs of nurses who are transitioning into professional practice and/or those working in rural settings.  Dr. McCafferty has received many awards for her classroom and clinical teaching throughout her career as an educator and was one of 20 educators across the coutnry to participate in a simulation leadership fellowship with the National League of Nrusing in 2016.  Dr. McCafferty currently teaches Human Pathophysiology, Statistical Reasoning, Research and Evidence Based Practice and Care Management coursework for undergraduate students.
